Default PvE Main Faction

Did not participate in the BWE, and really looking for a change from World of Warcraft.

My question re-lates to some of the movies I've seen of this game. What exactly is the make-up of the evil beastial looking guys? The evil peons, that seem to be the new corruption of the world. Are they demons, undead scourge, monsters ????..... also are there demons in this game?

Have looked around for an answer and havn't found one to my liking, so hoping someone can fill me in

Thanks

Well, the main furry bestial looking guys you see .... probably most often, are called "Charr". From what I can tell, and I'm no zoologist, these guys are like a cross between a lion, bear, hyena and a bad attitude...and they stand on two legs, wear armour, and wield weapons n stuff. Other than that, the game comes with some standard RPG baddies, i.e. Undead, Dwarves, Gargoyles, Imps, Bandits, Ettins, Dragons. But they do improvise a lot of the time, you see crazy worm things all over the place, scorpions galore, goblin-esque skales. I haven't been everywhere, so I can't give you a run-down on the entire bestiary. But that should be a start.

Your enemies change throughout the game.

At first, (in "pre-seared" Ascalon (officially known as the Kingdom of Ascalon)), you will see some rather wussy looking monsters. River Skales and things that run around minding their own business until you decide to kill them.

Then the "Charr" cause the "searing" and after that you'll pretty much see them run rampant all over the place until you get to the first mission of the Shiverpeaks.

When you get to the Shiverpeaks, you will see a lot of the Stone Summet guys. I don't know what they are exactly, but they're fun to kill. hehe...

Once you get down from there, you'll be seeing a hell of a lot of undead all throughout Kryta.

When you get into the Maguuma Jungle, you'll mostly be seeing all sorts of plant-like monsters. And Maguuma Spiders and Centuars as well as Wind Riders and things.

And in the last place that I could actually see, the Fissure of Woe and the Underworld, you will encounter shadow-like creatures that look like they are from some sort of dark hell hole. We haven't seen all of the game yet though, So I have no idea about the other areas.

All and all, there is no major enemy. There is a fluent story, but it evolves over several battles that you join with struggling societies against harsh environments filled with annoying creatures of every type.

Awsome, appreciate the fill-ins. Sounds pretty cool.

Do you have to go too some lands like the Fissure of Woe or is everything pretty much optional? Though, I'm assuming certain quests will lead you from land to land especially if they are chained/linked quests. Well, I guess in other words if you don't go too some lands will you be missing out on something important?

Hruktar, not many people know the entire storyline of guildwars except Alpha Testers. Due to NDA reasons we arent allowed to let that information out, but when the game goes retail alot of storyline questions will be answered.

Hruktar,
To give you an idea and I only did the BWE thing. There are a group of creatues that are in the jungles that have been mutated buy a Goddess(trust me you'll see)... The good thing they were human, the bad thing? If you go 1 on 1 you just might DIE... If you get 1 and you are in group you will be fine. The bad thing.. They are never alone. Always in 2's and 4's, but the game is so intuitive it may never be the same. The last time I went against them there were 6 of us and 16 of them...

You do not have to do the main mission at all, if you don't want to. The main mission does take you from one place to another, pretty much only as necessary to complete it. If you only do the main mission, you will leave a lot of the map unexplored, because the main mission does not take you everywhere. At the same time, you can explore a great deal, if not all, of the map without doing any of the main mission and can complete rewarding side quests this way.

The importance of the main mission is that you earn skill points and experience when you complete each section. You need both these to advance your character.
